Welcome to our positively magical saucery!  (In case you didn't know, a saucery is office in a medieval household responsible for sauces, and was an extension of a castle's kitchen)

Heka Saucery has been imagined and realized with the purpose of infusing magic into your life through our wonderful sauces and dressings.  We pack them with aroma, flavor, healthy and hearty ingredients, producing sauces that are spellbinding.  They will transform otherwise ordinary culinary creations into an extraordinary experience that is positively magical!

The name Heka is rooted in the old Egyptian God of magic and medicine, which we took to not only pay tribute to Iman's heritage and birthplace in Egypt, but to hint at one of our core values, that food can be a powerful medicine for us all.  The name is also a wink and a nod to the Greek goddess Hekate (Hecate), the goddess of crossroads, which is the inspiration for our role in helping you cross over into a realm of not only Egyptian Flavors, but the notion that healthy does not mean boring!

 

OUR STORY

Two dreamers, from two very different parts of the globe Cairo, Egypt of the African continent and Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Both bring along their very own unique life experiences, acquired skill sets, hobbies, dreams, strengths, vulnerabilities and most importantly, a burning passion for meaningful and positive human connection and a common awe and appreciation of Nature, the Planet and the Universe.

We met for the very first time as absolute strangers, and became very curious about each other’s interests, backgrounds and passions. The energy created during our first few brief introductions made us quickly realize that those short encounters were meant to evolve and transform into something - let’s just say, MAGICAL!

We both practice self expression in our very own subtle and not-so-subtle ways. Food happens to be a mutual way through which we both connect to what we believe in and aspire to.  

HI, My Name Is Iman Moussa!

I migrated to America from Egypt with a, back then, young family leaving behind so many memories, beloved family members, friends and a country and a life I adored.

After a few years living in the US my journey of self expression started with me launching an exclusively plant based Egyptian Street Food retail brand. My goal was bringing authentic flavors back from my original home of Cairo Egypt,  specifically from my mom’s recipe book, to share and connect with my new community. 

In my journey of bridging the old me with new, so much was unfolding including meeting Natalie, a gift from the universe and a wink to let me know I’m doing ok, and that the future is full of bright shining stars!

Hi, I am Natalie Wiser-Orozco!

The short story - I'm a lover of METAL, food, cats, logic, animals, plants, and the planet in general, embracing life with zest, putting in the hard work, and living in the now.

The Long:  A former restaurant worker, I put myself through school, emerging with a Masters in Computer Science, and stuck with a career in software development for 14 years.  In the Spring of 2010, I created The Devil Wears Parsley as a way to share my love of food with the world.  That experience helped me grow in ways I could have never imagined, both socially, and professionally.  This passion turned into a birth of a freelance Recipe Developer and Food Photographer, which has been honed for 12 glorious years at the time of this writing.  Aside from my professional tasks, I also had the honor and privilege of photographing some of my heavy metal idols.  You can check those out here if you're interested.

In the Winter of 2020, my husband and I moved from my beloved home in Southern California to Columbia, Maryland.  Iman was the first person I met on the East Coast due to her Vegan Egyptian Street Food, and we were instant soul mates.  She is so incredibly supportive, and has given me the courage to leap into many things, including this magical endeavor called Heka Saucery!

Our shared love for good food, clean eating, and meaningful human connection inspired us to bring our efforts together and create sauces and dressings that are intended to put a big smile on your faces and  fill your souls with joy. Enjoy them if you’re making a meal for many, or as an act of self love - just for yourself.  Let them be your own bold but delicious form of self-expression. Get creative, make them yours, claim them as your secret ingredient, or share them with the world and spread joy!

All that matters to us is delivering a quality bite that tastes nothing like anything you've ever had before.
